I've been signed up about the same amount of time as you have, and the whole time I've been aware, there have been both the young and middle-aged on here. There were conservative political memes back then, and there are still school-age type memes now. I haven't seen a perceptible shift of the kind you're describing in this meme.
It's true that there have been a lot of memes about trolls lately.
