I think what happens is that comments on a meme affect the meme's rating in the hot stream, so it might push it higher where more people could see it, and potentially vote on it, so it could indirectly result in you getting more points in the future.
But I don't think that when a person writes a comment on your meme, it directly adds points to your score.
