What unused fields are you talking about. They are used to grow barley, canola, wheat, etc. and raise cattle. A quarter section of land here goes for almost $300,000. Nobody is leaving those unused.

@CanolaQueen http://eae.alberta.ca/englishexpress/articles/pdf/ra11_09_l3.pdf Grassland covers at-least 14% of the province. https://youtu.be/oALmXR0GswI https://youtu.be/zQCEEP7ltLM https://youtu.be/NarIIm1KB8k All Grass

You are correct that 14% of Alberta is in the grassland region, but that does not mean it is not owned privately and farmed. I live in said region. any land that can grow crops is worked under. The rest is used as pasture land. Some of it is in provincial parks, so that is the only "unused land" I can think of.

The above link is government produced info and according to the government of Alberta. That 14% is UNUSED GRASSLAND. UNUSED mean unused.

I read your link. Nowhere does it say "unused" You can capitalize the word all you want. It doesn't make it true.

obviously you haven't drove through Alberta before and if you did are you blind?. Also just because an old oil drill is in the middle of a field doesn't mean it's used.

I already told you I live in Alberta, and yes I have driven through it several times. If you can't respond without insulting me, I will ignor all future posts. I own farmland here. I would have thought my username gave that away. If hemp were profitable, people would grow it. Lots of farmers in this area (the grassland region) have oil wells on their land. The oil company leases a small part from them. The rest of the land around the lease is used to grow crops.
