Yeah. Marcus Licinius Crassus was a businessman who made his fortune in real estate using somewhat underhanded methods (arson.) He then became governor of Syria, I believe, and fought a war against Parthia (Modern day Iraq) He lost and was killed, and his death contributed to a civil war between Caesar and Pompey the Great.
