I suspect you're saying that because you didn't like the sequels they made. If they hadn't made any, we'd all be calling Raiders of the Lost Ark "the #1 movie that needs a sequel."

Indiana Jones is a great character.

the third outing was passable and i loved the young indy series but the others were poor,sometimes films are just sequelled to death imo

It sounds like we have very different movie tastes (I thought the third was the worst of the series), but we probably agree on this: none of the sequels are even close to Raiders of the Lost Ark. It's one of the greatest adventure classics of all time.
