The real shoelace is already tied and hidden by the cuff of the pant leg. A visible and false, untied shoelace is attached to a retractable keychain or cord. As the "magician" shakes his foot, he draws the fake shoelace up his pantleg and out of sight. Notice that only AFTER the trick is done, do you see the shoelace where the knot is normally located...not before!
