Bro heavy metal is peak, the problem is that people jump straight into the worst ones like Cannibal Corpse, Infant Annihilator, Immortal and most Black and Death Metal, which you should not NOT listen when you give metal a try for the first time. Listen to bands like System Of A Down, Slipknot (most of them except Iowa), Disturbed, Metallica, Korn (anything except Daddy), Rage Against The Machine and others are great for beginners which gives you insight on the screaming and screeching vocals but not overwhelming you

I absolutely agree, my fav band is metallica, 100% recommend

it just depends on what kind, I do like metal but not the unintelligible screaming

this misconception is also present for dubstep

It's either mumbling or inaudible screeching
