for example: all our devices (cameras, phones, tablets, PCs/anything personal and not school chromebooks from 2013) get locked up in either a YONDR pouch or get taken by the staff and locked in a large metal locker with three locks

its a statewide policy apparently

For me, I have the exact same problem.
But for my school, all we have to do is put our phones in our pockets or lockers or backpack, it just simply has to stay out of sight.
But imo getting your phone snatched by the staff and put into a triple-locked metal locker everyday is a bit extreme lol

When I was in high school this was not only allowed, but encouraged if you were a slow writer or couldn't read the board for some reason (for example, when my glasses broke and I had to wait for several weeks to get them replaced). It hasn't been that long but I'm not sure now if that's still the case.
