Crocodiles lived because they use very little energy and are extremely adaptable. They also evolved over time from the huge Supercrocs (Sarcosuchus and Deinosuchus), to the terrestrial crocodile of the Pleistocene (late ice age) in Australia named Quinkana. Unfortunately or in our case fortunately, terrestrial crocodiles do not exist because they are extinct. However modern crocodilians exist because they evolved from the Cretaceous supercrocs into their smaller and more adaptable crocodilians of the Holocene. In Australia’s cas, when the Quinkana went extinct and as well as the Megalanias (giant komoto dragons) too, it allowed saltwater crocodiles to travel from New Guinea to Australia in the upper Paleolithic period of the Stone Age, 40,000 years ago.
