I really did collect or capture and house reptiles for most of my youth. The other thought is now how the opposite happens. I am disconnected from wild reptiles and think of them as media representations of ideas. A reptile, metaphorically or as they say these days, a trope, is often a cold hearted lackey such as found in 'Jupiter Ascending'.
