Well spotted - I never noticed that ... The principle is still good if the inner tube is partially inflated within the tyre ?

Need to position the valve through the wheel rim, and also hope that the cord doesn't slice through the inner tube! Personally I've never had difficulty placing a tyre on a wheel just bending it over till all of it is under the rim.

I remember changing 26" tyres and using two special tools that looked like the ends of a spoon and struggling but It was a long long time ago :~)
