A cure for cancer would mean that the billion-dollar cancer medication and treatment industry would become completely obsolete, which wouldn’t be good for pharmaceutical companies as they would lose billions of dollars of profit
So they pay the U.S. government to closely monitor people that are focused on finding a cure for cancer. According to some conspiracy theories, if a cure is found (which some people believe already exists), they make sure to hide the cure and to kill the person or people involving in making the cure.
An effective way of killing the person/people would be to wait until they went on a plane and then alter the plane in some way as to cause it to be damaged in a matter that would harm the person/people.
