I prefer fun and innovation over a walking simulator with occasional shooting

and it sucks that that's actually a hot take nowadays

i always had fun with half life series because of its combat, puzzles and environmental storytelling without forcing you into a cutscene

probably the most innovative fps i've played anyways

especially with its use of physics in the second one

and another thing is it barely holds your hand or anything, you just figure it out yourself



but rarely is it frustrating, you just look and look until you find a solution and you're like "aha" and that's mainly the portal series experience
