I first get plenty of wood then dig a hole on to a mountain. That way I can get to stone tools and a sick underground base to start with.

Sometimes I do that when I’m really locked into the game, or I just dig a small mine staircase down and make a small room

Nah I just put my bed on the grass and a few torches around it so monsters won’t spawn and I can sleep
