The way you feel isn't a choice, but how you label and identify yourself is. Labels are there to give words and expression to identities that already exist. There were always queer people before we had the terms we do now.
So if you are lesbian, that isn't a choice, but calling yourself lesbian is. (for example, another term for that sexuality could be sapphic, or gay, etc)
I didn't choose to be Oriented AroAce, but I chose to call myself that rather than just saying "I'm aro ace" or "I'm under the asexual umbrella"
