as a man of science, I'd like to explain the six million different things that prove evolution that aren't carbon dating. Also, how can water pressure "make it seem like a billion years"?

It’s just a theory
I’m a man of science and Christianity

I'm fine with atheists who respect religion and religious people who respect atheism and understand sciencd

To start off, I'd like to direct you to the comments of this post: imgflip.com/i/79vsn5

Just to be clear: evolution is real, and (maybe) god is too. You can't deny science and scientific theories just for something you read in an old book. Besides, you can see examples of evolution and natural selection happening in the present day, so how can you prove that didn't happen in the billions of years the earth has existed?
(side note- "the flood" most likely didn't cover "the whole world" it was probably just all of the stuff they knew about at the time, like how europeans didn't know the americas existed.)
I'm not fighting you on this meme in general, I just feel like it is worded poorly if that makes sense?
Anyway, have a good day!

God is (most definitely) real
#2
The type of evolution I am taking about is the kind that lasted over billions of years (that evolution is fake)
#3
The Bible is the human handbook, created by God and written down by men.
#4
The earth hasn’t been around for a billion years, only a couple thousand or so.
#5
I do believe in natural selection, such as the moths that had to disguise to the trees to survive, but I don’t believe that dogs came from whales.
#6
I believe that the flood covered the whole world because God said it covered the whole earth.
#7
I hope that you see and believe the truth of Christianity and I know that many Christians on this website don’t represent God well but I am praying that you have a good day as well!

1: That is not a fact, but a belief that not everyone shares. (I am an impartial agnostic)

2: Evolution is a theory, a way to explain the changes around us. Since humans didn't exist while that stuff was happening, our estimations are based on archeological, historical, and biological research. Since we have evidence of adaptation in the present day, we have generally assumed this to be fact.
https://education.nationalgeographic.org/resource/theory-evolution/

3: I literally don't know how to respond to this??? lmao

4: I have no idea where you got the notion that the earth is only a few thousand years old, but I will still attempt to treat you as an adult. As you addressed in your original meme, you claim that the pressure of water gave the effect of aging to rocks. Is that correct? Here are some sources about carbon dating and the age of the earth. Perhaps we can both do our research together? https://education.nationalgeographic.org/resource/resource-library-age-earth/
https://ncse.ngo/answers-creationist-attacks-carbon-14-dating

5: I don't know where you got "Dogs came from whales" and I don't think "whales" is a typo of "wolves" so I don't know what to say to that. Other than cite your sources I guess??

6: Once again, sources, please. Additionally, please don't take quotes out of context from the time they were written. As I previously stated, "The Whole World" was probably just the part where the wicked were living. God isn't gonna nuke some randos on another continent for no reason and without explanation. And, as you claim, Humans wrote the bible with instructions from God (I think that's what you meant?)

7: I understand that there is some truth in christianity, and I'm glad you understand that there can be some crazy weirdos on this site. But I hope you are willing to learn, and know that this book was created before humans had a greater understanding of the world. This can all be attributed to human err, and lack of understanding. I've listed all my sources to show that I care about relaying facts and am not just dissing your religion without cause.

I hope you found this conversation constructive and helpful! I enjoyed the opportunity to research and learn a bit more myself. If you would like to continue your argument, please give me some sources to look into. Thanks! Have a good one! <3 <3 <3

1: yes fact
2: that is true tho God made us a couple days after everything else so yeah
3: lol
4: theologians concluded that from the age of Adam and following the family line that God gave us (now we know why) the earth is roughly 11 thousand years old
5: yeah it was in my science book lol it said that whales evolved to dogs lol
6: I believe that the whole world was one continent then yeah I probably took ur quote out of context there’s a theory where when the flood happened the earth continent plates shifted apart covering earth with water and to what we have today
7: God created the world and told them what to write so that it can be applicable today
8: I appreciate you not being rude like others in an argument!

How and why is it fake

The Bible is the human handbook, created by God and written down by men.
Yeah ok
#4
The earth hasn’t been around for a billion years, only a couple thousand or so.
Proof?
#5
I do believe in natural selection, such as the moths that had to disguise to the trees to survive, but I don’t believe that dogs came from whales.
Other way round, whales evolved from dog-like ancestors
#6
I believe that the flood covered the whole world because God said it covered the whole earth.
Very solid proof

#1 God is mainly a belief, same as allah or buddha.
#2 your correct, we were once fish, and fish were once microbes.
#3 The bible is a book, but like all books it has its importance.
#4 the earth has indeed been around for billions of years, its nearly as old as the sun.
#5 correct, but whales and dogs did have a common ancestor, which split the branch of evolution.
#6 how would that happen i wonder, as earth was already covered in water for nearly 4 billion years.
#7 i understand your correct opinions.

There has been many scientific evidence of God not being real. I'm not saying you shouldn't believe, but I'm just trying to let you know that people will have different opinions, so that is okay. I myself am an atheist

Hey, I wanna play!

Me vs Polystyrene (on the main points raised by Gummy_Axoltol and Memeking222):

#1: We’ll just have to wait and see or ourselves, won’t we?

#2: Even Charles Darwin, the guy who came up with evolution theory, said that the idea of creatures evolving into different forms was absurd. He should know better than anyone else, considering it was his life’s work. Another reason against evolution is the marked lack of “missing link” species. Sure, there’s Australopithecus (or whatever the earliest hominids were called) and Archaeopteryx (which was a reptile), but other than that… there aren’t really that many. Surely some members of these transitionary species would have died in a place convenient for their fossilization?

#3: This is a bit controversial. I can see fascinating arguments for either side. The best I can come up with off the top of my head is that the Bible provides a moral code that feels natural to the human consciousness.

#4: Not everything in the Bible is meant to be taken literally. Even among atheists, there was some debate as to whether the earth was created slowly but surely or in a (relatively) rapid series of cataclysmic events.

#5: Just because they have similar body structures (in the limbs, for example), doesn’t necessarily mean that they has a common ancestor. Find me five missing link species between crocodiles and green anole lizards. I’ll wait.

#6: The flood… well, we can safely assume that either one great flood covered the world at one point because many cultures with a written history has a myth of a great flood that covered the whole world. The American Indians, the Asian Indians, the Mesopotamians, and even more, all had myths of a great flood. It can’t be a mere coincidence.

So just because some scientists say it’s not true means that its not true? If the creator of the universe says it’s true, YA BETTER BELIEVE CUZ IT IS TRUE
[deleted]

Fair point, but it isn’t just a few scientists, and personally I agree
Anyways, the creator of the universe isn’t convincing me about anything until he convinces me of his existence

So basically your only reason is evolution? And the earth hasn’t been around for billions of years
There is more proof of the Bible’s truth than the earths age of a billion million years
[deleted]
0 ups, 1y
Yes, my biggest reason is evolution, where is the proof of the Bible being correct?
Explain how meteors that once were thought to be part of the earth, only to be launched into orbit by a bigger meteor, and then fallen again, have been found and dated to 4 billion years old

2 Timothy 3:1-5: “In the last days . . . , men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, having an appearance of godliness but proving false to its power.”

We are in the last days!!! What a joy it is to be a Christian and not having to experience death!
