A hellgrammite that I found in a river (more info in comments)

A hellgrammite is the larval form of Sam water bug called a dobsonfly. They are non venomous, and this was my first encounter with one a while back.

Still cool bugs tho, not saying I’d want one crawling on my head, but I’ll respect them as fellow creatures of God’s creation😀

I’d prolly be fine with tarantulas and maybe some other bugs, but it’s really the wings that freak me out (on the dobsonfly), they look a lot like cicada wings and I have a bad experience with them…

What kind of bad experience?

My dad would sometimes put cicada shells on our shirts to freak us out when me and my siblings were little, I actually think I wouldn’t mind them if it weren’t for that, and he put them on the screen window of my sleeping area when we went camping once in a friend’s camper, there were cicadas and cicada shells EVERYWHERE down there😰 so it’s just a bad experience. But I’m kinda getting over my other bad bug experience. I was around four years old and about to go to sleep when an Asian Beetle flew in m ear. WE GOT IT OUT OF MY EAR MY EAR WAS NOT DAMAGED OR ANYTHING IT WAS JUST SCARY TO FOUR YEAR OLD ME
