And a lot of the time I don’t even do that.



Because of the weird trend of “etiquette” that you have to upvote all the comments you get or reply to.  That’s also a thing pushed by popular users to get people to upvote their comments more, and therefore get more upvotes.

If there's a comment I like (basically any minus porn, harrassment, etc) I upvote it. If I hate it, I downvote it

The message I always push is you don’t have to upvote anything if you don’t want to.



If you want to upvote, go for it.  But don’t make people feel obligated to do the same for you.
