I got this theory from four facts:
-Mettaton is referred to as male, since he has his host. (Though as to why the rectangle form qualifies as male, I do not know.)
-Mad Dummy's gender isn't specified until they become Mad Mew Mew.
-Mad Dummy refers to Ruins Dummy as 'they'.
-Undyne refers to Napstablook as 'they'.
