It's a wild bird with wild bird diseases, and they're probably right but imagine if you did that with humans, some kid is outside running around, they blindly run right into a tree and collapse on the ground, you run over to help them and when you get to them you go "Uh... sorry kid you got a cold, can't help you out buddy."
