I've never had the urge to stand outside and set fire to 40 ten dollar bills. Besides...I can sit on a chair on my front lawn (or living room sofa, depending on the mosquitos) and watch the town's 4th of July fireworks show.
All my surrounding neighbors went out of town this year so it was pretty quiet on our block...some of my other neighbors put on a pretty good show tho'.

+1: Years and years ago when I was a wee lad, and gunpowder had just been invented, you were a celebrity if you had a 50-piece package of nickel firecrackers. The assorted pyrotechnics that we can buy for ourselves today never ceases to amaze me!
