Go back to the source: the Manga, and read, or reread it. Or set it aside and try other series in that area. I'm only now getting into anime so a lot of what I'm watching has already ended a while ago. There's a lot I be checking into, Inyuasha is what the grandkids say I need to watch, but I've only just finished the Ranma 1/2 series and have to catch the OVAs and movies. AND the manga. (I only have a few issues of those, but that will change) One item on my anime bucket list is Tegami Bachi: Letter Bee. I started reading the series a couple years ago when my oldest grandson turned me on to it. I'm in a blessed position: my love, passion, and history with American comic books allowed me to transition to the Anime/Manga stories out of Japan (including the trans-Pacific collaboration that went into Avatar: The Last Airbender. Will be watching Kora later this week if I can wrangle the time) plus I have 8 grandkids (ages 10 - 25) that are deep into the genre to guide me. In return, I guide them through the classic American comics that many of their programs are based on.
