I liked Prometheus too, but when I say "too Hollywood" I mean how it copied the formula of Alien though. And some of the practical effects were a little too obvious.

To me, Prometheus is to Alien what TFA is to ANH. They seemed to "play it safe" and in a way copied a previous film in a franchise so that they didn't risk as much.

And Covenant looks good but has that same feel. Like Hollywood is churning out films too fast now or doesn't have as much originality anymore. It's hard to be original now. I hope it's at least as good as Prometheus.

I'm going to have to check Stranger Things out. My brother tells me he thinks I'd like it and you and me are both into a bunch of similar shows/films/games so it's probably worth the time to check out. :{D

Yeah Hollywood is definitely getting less and less and original and it's a big problem for the film industry. Independent films will keep gaining popularity and could compete with the big studios if the trend continues. Disney thought that RO was a "risk" even just because it wasn't an "episode".

I've never tripped on hallucinogens but it's crazy how drastic they alter your perception of reality according to people who have done them. I tried a gram of shrooms over the summer but didn't trip. Scanner Darkly is really good IMO. It's got Keanu Reeves, Robert Downey JR, winona Ryder(I think she's super hot), and woody Harrelson and it's really well made. I'd say it's animated, but really it's like they're just painting over the actual film cells. But I'm not sure as I've never seen a full "making of" documentary on it.

And it's based off a book by Philip K Dick and he's the author that did Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep and that's what Blade Runner is based off of. :{D
