It's insane how two countries with very ancient histories, cultures, and legacies got turned inside out in short order. Because of fear(a lot countries didn't want Iran to become a 1st world nation), greed(attempts at Afghanistan's resources) plus straight up incompetence/stupidity on how to do deal with both countries. Instead of doing things like trade deals in which all sides would've greatly prospered and profited from, certain alphabet agencies(basically all of them around the world) and idiots in government(people like Carter) completely screwed everything up by going in guns blazing and setting up the two legit governments to fall and be replaced with roughly a half century's worth of nightmares and death.
Of course dems/leftists don't want to hear that because it would mess up their narrative and TDS.
