Expected gender roles (eg: women: always be lady-like; men: don't cry) is stupid and toxic stuff. It hurts both sides.

Just watch the classic shows if you don't like it but still wanna watch TV. (Despite orville having lesser graphics, star trek discovery is said to have characters having strong female roles and either weak or agressive male roles, orville has the basic atmosphere of the classic star trek plus dick jokes).

Last time i checked, the crew was cosplaying as Nazis. I think it's awesome... although it IS low on competant males.

Edit: IKR? Spore drive is awesome! I would't be surprised if a real star trek show referred back to discovery and said that everyone were skrubs.
