![[1 of 5] DO YOU WANT TO HEAR ABOUT THE FUTURE? The Bible contains 2500 prophecies, of which 1500 have already come true. Just as there were 300 Bible prophecies successfully predicting Christ’s First Coming to earth, there are also 300 telling us about Jesus’ soon Second Coming. However, I don't care how nifty you are with a calculator, or deciphering the constellations, the Bible lets us know that no one will know the day, nor the hour, even though we are given signs to know when the time is close. Let me give you a quick look at some of those prophecies so you can judge whether they're lining up now: Israel will return to the land, become a nation again, become a united nation again in one day, become a powerful military, their currency will go back to the shekel (happened in 1980), they will blossom as a rose in the desert (it used to be barren lifeless land and now they are the breadbasket of the Middle East), and they will become a source of world conflict. With that last one, I think it's funny that people wonder how we can know when the time of Jesus' return is close. Well, just turn on your TV, right? What is on the news so many nights? It's little, bitty, teeny, tiny Israel as a source of conflict for the whole world. That's Bible prophecy! Here's more that is predicted in the Bible: Israel will rebuild the temple (they want to do that right now), and the world will see an increase in travel, knowledge, unrest, earthquakes, famines, pestilence, war, strange events in the sky, global catastrophes, a false Christ, false teachers, and increased wickedness. ![WHAT IS A SHOTGUN WEDDING? What are we taught by our society today about pre-marital relations? Many ignore what goes on with our young men sleeping around. Some even give young men bad advice, saying they need not worry about the consequences; thereby creating a society full of single moms. They lead men to believe they don't need to be responsible for their behavior. Completely contrary to that disastrous message, God tells us we must take responsibility for our behavior in a society: "If a man seduces a virgin who is not pledged to be married and sleeps with her, he must pay the bride-price, and she shall be his wife.”; That also used to be our society’s way. We had a term called, "shotgun wedding.” Dad would confront the young man with something like, "You did what with my daughter?!" Then if the man slept with his daughter, the shotgun would come out, followed by the preacher showing up to marry the two young people. But today, society thinks no one but the government (taxpayers) is responsible for bringing that child into the world. And you wonder why our society is falling apart. God continues: "If her father absolutely refuses to give her to him, he must still pay the bride-price for virgin[s]." So,

Another reason we can trust the Bible is that there are close to 25,000 copies of the New Testament alone; some from the actual lifetime of the writers. It used to be that the oldest were within 25 years of the date written, (which is amazing), but now we even have Scripture from the same year it was written. Those copies are on pottery that was stored in Qumran. For some strange reason that extraordinary historical find doesn’t get on the History Channel. It gets no attention from secular media even though the Qumran caves of the Judaean Desert (West Bank of Israel) had Old and New Testament materials, again, some of the latter that are from the same year the original was written. That is absolutely phenomenal! The Bible is unquestionably reliable. Now let’s contrast the Bible with the writings of Aristotle and Plato that no one mocks the veracity of. The Bible has 25,000 copies, some from within the same year as the original, yet people feel free to question the authority and authenticity of Scripture while the earliest copies of Plato and Aristotle are 1200 and 1400 years removed, respectively, from the originals. And there are only 7 and 49 copies of those works on the whole planet.
