I just did a bunch of research on the two.
What's the difference?

The first one is one who is OBSESSED with anime to the point that he will want to get his hands on any merchandise from the fandom he loves. The second one is interested in the plot and how characters are portrayed.

ngl my dad was kinda the first one back in the 1990s.
