Countries with lax gun laws vary wildly from America and Austria to Yemen, Chad, and the Republic of Congo. Countries with restrictive gun laws vary from the UK, Germany, and Canada to Turkey. Countries where it is near impossible to get a gun vary from China, North Korea, and Vietnam to the Netherlands, Ireland, and Greece, so it's safe to say that gun control does not affect how oppressive a government is.
