National emergency

Here's how it works:
After declaring a National Emergency, A LOT of shit needs to be done by a lot of other people.
Once it's all ready to go, the President can start to direct things.
Until it's ready, there's going to be some downtime.

You know, how people get to go home after work and/or have weekends...

As we all know, it's no emergency. Here's how it's supposed to work: You persuade people of your ideas using your leadership skills. Then, you use proper legislative procedure to enact them. You don't yell "FIre" in a movie theater just to clear it out so you can clean it. Now, in 2 years, the Dems will be calling an emergency in order to fix health care, to fix global warming, to fix a perceived unfair tax structure. But the ALways Trumpers will back any foolhardy thing he proposes, and damn the constitution. But it was a nice try, comrade.

Trump tried to do it the reasonable way.
Made several offers to the House Dems who came out and rejected the offers before they had even heard them.
The reason Trump is in office at all, and the reason he will most likely win on an unseen scale in 2020 is because the Dems are behaving like idiot children and the country is sick of it.
US health care is pretty trash tier, I'll concede that point, though I don't live in the US so I also don't have to deal with it.

Global Warming is an issue that has been revealed to have been exaggerated to an absurd level, and the Western nations in heneral are doing an excellent job of being more environmentally proactive.
If only India and China would do the same...
Trump managed to put legislation in place that encouraged companies to pollute less and it worked.
But you won't hear any of his irrational haters admitting that any time soon.

Finally tax sucks, I don't think anyone would disagree with the statement in general, but it is necessary if you want a functional nation.
Fairness in tax systems depends a lot on how much you are personally putting into it I suppose.
I am of the opinion that a flat tax system is best when it doesn't allow for deductions or exemptions of any kind.
Businesses and individuals pay x% of whatever they bring in and in doing so the value of x can be made pretty damned low.
