Blizzard | YEAH THAT'S A BLIZZARD ALL RIGHT I FEEL SO SORRY FOR THOSE SOUTHERNERS...THEIR SNOW IS ALL GOING TO MELT OFF IN 15 MINUTES, TOO | image tagged in blizzard | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
Oh my, we just got a foot of snow overnight here....spent some real time shoveling off the driveway and such...those southrons have it easy in the winter, I swear. But they get awful summers, which goes to the point that you just can't win ;-)

I've lived in Iowa, where it's really cold and snowy in the winter, and very humid and muggy in the summer. So you can't win there, either :)

Where are you at?

I'm from upstate New York, where the summers can also get pretty darn hot. The thing is with winter here is that we get a lot of snow coming from lake Ontario. I love it here, though and I doubt I'll ever move. I prefer the cold to sweltering heat anyway so I'm good :-)

I've known several guys who were stationed at Ft. Drum. They had snow-horror stories lol

That's neat :). I've been to Rochester and Buffalo a couple times. I don't like humidity but I want to move to Florida in the future when I'm done with all the truck driving, because I love the tropical scenery.

Hey there, Octavia! Drop by for a beer next time. I'm just south of Rochester's city limits!

This summer I'm going to drive up to Canada to visit Dash. I'll stop by on my way up there! :) I was going that way anyway because I'm going to visit the Robert Ingersoll birthplace in Dresden.

I would agree with the rest of you but the only difference I had a 5-day rain on Christmas while in summer it might get humid or dry

Hmm...I've never been to Cali, I'll have to see it someday. I can say, though, that most of the people here in CNY would by far prefer a wet winter to a snowy one ;-)

I remember a year ago we had a snowstorm in Ireland ( a very rare occurrence) you'd swear there was an apocalypse coming. People went crazy buying bread and milk, all the shops where completely sold out. A little embarrassing when I think of it.
reply
5 ups, 4w, 1 reply
You live in Ireland, right? :) is snow uncommon there?
reply
3 ups, 4w, 1 reply
I do ;-) yeah it's very rare, it rains a lot here but we're very lucky we don't get extreme weather.

:) even in the desert (especially the High Desert of southern Cali) they can get snowfall in the winter. Some years back I was up in the mountains between San Diego and El Centro on I-8 and there was a good snowfall coming down.

Nice. San Diego County is a beautiful area. I occasionally pick up beer loads either in San Diego (Ballast Point) or Vista (Stone Brewing used to be in Escondido til they moved to Vista). I also sometimes drop off loads all the way down in Otay Mesa near the border.
reply

I actually had no idea that Stone moved to Vista, I thought they were still. My wife actually hates Ballast Point because of a girl in one of her accounting classes that worked there

reply
1 up, 3d, 1 reply
I really never need a heavy coat here, but my rule is, if it’s under 50, I wear long johns. (Especially in the morning when I have to go work in a cold warehouse). But then I’m usually taking them off when it warms up around noon... ; )

We had snow and wind on Saturday. On Sunday I went for a walk and one sidewalk was blown in with drifts up to 2 feet high. We still didn't consider that a blizzard. It pretty much has to be zero visibility before we label it a blizzard. (Alberta/Saskatchewan)

A boy I went to school with thought any ice falling from the sky was snow. Hail stones the size of jumbo (i.e. 35mm) marbles are quite different to snow flakes.
