They're proud of being LGBT on the sense that they aren't ashamed. I know, pride is something you get after you accomplish something. But they mean it in the sense of not being ashamed of who they are.
still doesn't explain what there is to be proud of. proud because they're not ashamed ? . who really cares ?. the vast majority couldn't care less one way or another if you're straight or not. it only becomes an issue when folks drone on and on about it, the ones who make a point of saying it repeatedly, in EVERY conversation. they're the ones obsessed with sexuality, start acting like a person instead of a walking talking poster for the "community" and I'd bet they wouldn't have hardly any issues with people
They aren't proud *because* they aren't ashamed. They're proud *as opposed to being* ashamed.
For most of Western history, LGBT people have been persecuted and oppressed and even executed. Society is changing and we are becoming more accepted, and that's a good thing.
it's absolutely wrong and tragic what's happened. thankfully, those types of things are for the most part history. most "persecution" today is most perceived than actual in my opinion. at least in the west.
Good meme, given that the doctrine implied by mass media suggests that it is a crime to be straight. One is especially labeled as being politically incorrect if they are straight, white, male, and proud of it.. taboo to suggest such a thing!
