I had to make this, despite the fact that I don't like Trump. This is one reason why shit keeps happening. Republican and Democrat have become religions whose dogmas and policies must prevail. People don't actually care about America or truth or justice.

Here's an article from 2014. They were mostly unaccompanied minors.

And Obama was asking Congress for more money to make the system better.

Not to make the system better! It was to make it more efficient at deporting children.

Here's what I posted at iaonsite who referred to the same article:

"What that article states is that Obama wanted money to deport more children faster.

Furthermore it states that he wanted new arrivals sent home first so that the possibility of them staying with family members here in the US would be bypassed. The article said Obama wanted this to be done to send a message to their home countries citizens to let them know they are not welcome.

Children that arrived in the US with parents would often be deported without their parents. They would be dumped into their violent home countries without any supervision. I know this because immigration attorneys have told me this.

Obama didn't give a shit about those kids. Not one shit. "

He wanted those kids gone, not to help them.

those kids came in waves we were unprepared for. Obama asked for more money to be better prepared. Trump COULD have been better prepared IF Congress helped Obama with his plan.

Obama was known as the "Deporter in Chief" for a reason. But he did it the best he could with what CONGRESS gave him.

:D I think what my Anonymous friend means is that what Obama did is nothing close to Trump. Many conservatives use the Obama example to justify Trump, but what Obama did was in special scenarios, not in an all-encompassing rule like Trump. Obama's administration tried much harder to keep kids with parents. The ICE under Trump didn't.

I do appreciate you helping me to remember to ask someone a question.

There's currently a lawsuit keeping a lot of families from being reunited despite Trumps executive order. I need to find out which judge set the precedent of reseperating reunified families.

I've since heard about the detention centers for an influx of unaccompanied minors that happened during Obama. Not sure what that has to do with Trump forcably taking babies away from their mothers now and holding them for ransom for funding the wall.

Did you not hear? Trump signed an executive order to end a 20 year old policy of separating families. Someone give that man a humanitarian award! That's a lot of kindness!

Don't act like family separation wasn't happening before Trump, it most certainly was. I've been hearing about that stuff since Obama was in office by immigration attorneys.

This happened all at once when Trump wasn't getting his funding for the wall. It only happened before in certain cases when they questioned paternity or maternity and maybe some fell through the cracks. Obama wasn't taking everyone's kids who came through away from them and you know this.

Rofl. I know the opposite because I know immigration attorneys. Don't feed me your internet news. I live in the heart of it.

This has been happening since the beginning. The only thing Trump has to do with child separation that's different from other presidents is that TRUMP ENDED CHILD SEPARATION.

Are you choosing to ignore that or what?
reply

Trump ended it. LOL yourself. So he just gave all those millions to the detention centers because his big plan was to end it? HILARIOUS.

Dam guy, you can't think a step ahead can you?

Now that families will be detained together there will need to be new facilities to house them. Hence, money being thrown that direction.

You're definitely one of the dumber trolls, I'll give you that.

The families are only separated because the parents are arrested for illegally crossing the border. That is in fact a minor felony. The parents are charged and handed a fine, a process which only takes a few hours at most, after which they would be reunited with their children and sent back across the border. Separating them for a few hours seems much better than arresting the whole family.

The problem comes when the parents then request asylum, which by law the US has to take seriously. Then the parents get held for processing as all required procedures are followed - ie paperwork, background checks, and other red tape - which takes much, much longer.

The whole rigamarole could have been avoided if the parents had followed the proper procedures to request asylum /before/ illegally crossing the border. And there /are/ procedures in place to request asylum, as opposed to immigrating.

And the worst part is, you're making me defend Obama here, since all of this was going on under his presidency. He's even spoken out against illegal immigration and in favor of stronger borders in the past.

It's a misdemeanor that they're trying to make a felony now. And most of them were trying to legally seek asylum, which is not a crime. We told them their kids were getting baths then we took them and locked them up and haven't given most of them back. Why not?

The procedure to legally seek asylum begins /before/ they cross the border, in their own country. Why haven't the children been given back? I already explained that.

They showed up at the border asking for asylum. We could've sent them back. We could've flown or bussed them back for what we're paying for these detention centers. But instead we took their kids and licked them all up. And we don't even know where some of their kids are. The babies are going to immigration trials and sitting before judges at one and two years of age. And for what??
reply

**locked** And no, Trump's plan was to just lock them up. They don't even know who or where half these kids are.
reply

No, they crossed the border illegally, then they only asked for asylum when they got busted.

And "Trump's plan"? You're not even remotely paying attention, are you? This was set up long before he got into office, that picture up there is from Obama's administration, not Trump's. Trump is doing what he was elected to do, follow the rule of American law.

Granted he could be working a little harder to change the laws, but he's not the one who put them in place. I don't know if Obama is the one who built those cages, but he IS on record as wanting stronger borders and being opposed to illegal immigration.

There is no law but the GOP is trying to pass one now. Obama is not the one who built the cages. Trump gave one of the companies $485 million in the past year for this. He had it planned. He wasn't responding to an influx, he wasn't trying to help anyone. It was premeditated kidnapping for leverage because he wasn't getting his way. It's sick.

Barack Obama: Added $8.588 trillion to the national debt, an increase from the $11.657 trillion debt at the end of Bush’s last budget, FY 2009 for a grand total of $20.245 trillion.

FY 2017 - $672 billion.
FY 2016 - $1.423 trillion.
FY 2015 - $327 billion.
FY 2014 - $1.086 trillion.
FY 2013 - $672 billion.
FY 2012 - $1.276 trillion.
FY 2011 - $1.229 trillion.
FY 2010 - $1.652 trillion.
FY 2009 - $253 billion. Congress passed the Economic Stimulus Act, which spent $253 billion in FY 2009. This obviously should be added to President Obama's contribution to the debt.

George W. Bush: Added $5.849 trillion, an increase from the $5.808 trillion debt at the end of Clinton's last budget, FY 2001 for a grand total of $11.657 trillion.

FY 2009 - $1.632 trillion. This was Bush's deficit without the impact of the Economic Stimulus Act.
FY 2008 - $1.017 trillion.
FY 2007 - $501 billion.
FY 2006 - $574 billion.
FY 2005 - $554 billion.
FY 2004 - $596 billion.
FY 2003 - $555 billion.
FY 2002 - $421 billion.

FOR THE RECORD, no President cares. Both parties are equally bad. This is why people like me HATE to pay taxes and 100% of all tax increases on any human regardless of wealth, should be flushed down the toilet. Washington DC cannot manage money. Why give them more?
