You don't think they will be overturned?

I doubt it. As for roe Vs wade, that could be a possibility, but I really don't think so. There may be limitations and more rules put into place.

I wouldn't mind that, because I am a huge opponent of abortion. The gay marriage thing, even though I don't support it, I don't care what adults do with each other.

I can't say that either one would be impossible, but I really don't see them being overturned, either.

SpursFan is right. It's one conservative replacing another. And every time abortion comes before the court, even if they allow a state some limitations, it tends to be an atomized ruling, in that it doesn't come close to overturning Roe v. Wade. Although Chief Roberts is a reliable conservative vote, he tends to work to make controversial rulings less powerful overall. I think he's committed to the 'sanctity' of the traditional court. Kennedy will probably be replaced by a more right-wing justice, but I figure if we can get a Demo congress in November then Trump won't get any more choices appointed, and when he's kicked out of office then maybe Thomas will kick the bucket soon afterwards and we can start getting things going 5-4 the other way. :)

And and Trey spend like do it years leading the Benghazi investigation with zero evidence or indictments ever coming from it? Mueller has been going for just over a year and gas numerous indictments and guilty pleas already, and lots of evidence entered into court. Such hypocrisy

Like so many far-righties on here: no proof of Russian collusion despite lots of evidence; harping on about 30,000 e-mails or 3 million 'illegal' votes despite not a shred of proof. It's a bit damning that when all else fails the wingnuts fall back on pizza parlor sex cults. It's the Dumbing of America.

I'm so pissed off at Trey Gowdy. He's my Congressman and a friend, and I worked my butt off to help him beat incumbent Bob Inglis in 2010 with 71% of the vote. To his credit, he has at times defended Mueller and the DOJ and taken heat for it. But yesterday he was demanding an end to the investigation and criticizing them. Interesting he's making such a major change of tone right as Trump is picking an SC nominee...

If I'm not mistaken, a number of conservatives are unhappy with Roberts because he turned out not to be as conservative as they thought he was. Hopefully the next justice Trump chooses will be the same way :)

I'll enjoy your tears in november :) Maybe even sooner, if we confirm a new SCOTUS justice before the election.

You might be, but I hear an awful lot of conservative Evangelicals who want abortion to be illegal across the board, 100%.

elective abortions will die a natural death. As medical technology develops and makes a viable fetus earlier and earlier in the term, it will simply stop. Its often discussed in scientific periodicals Normally don't make text postings but thought I'd share that little tid bit.

There is a limit of course. At one month gestation it cannot survive outside the womb at all. I just read part of a description on an online medical dictionary which said that before 20 weeks, a fetus cannot survive outside the womb.

Right now. As the technology advances that period will get earlier. Eventually we'll just see fetuses transferred to host mothers from a very early stage.

I can't predict what technology will be available in the future, but if that type of technology ever does exist, it's a long way off.

Not as far a you'd think. We can already do invitro fertilization. The only thing we need to develop i a method for removing the fetus. Once thats achieved, it a done deal.

That's a tall order. IVF is one thing. Taking a developing embryo or fetus out of one womb and implanting it into another would be very difficult. Probably not impossible, but difficult.

Also the morning after pill will stop a lot. People need to be educated about that.
reply

Why would the morning after pill stop?
reply
1 up, 1 reply
Unplanned pregnancies are the motivating factor behind abortion and **pe f course. the morning after pill prevents fertilization. If now woman can get pregnant unless she choose to, no elective abortions will occur. Definitely a complex procedure but so was an organ transplant. Science will get there sooner or later. Probably sooner.

My mistake. You meant the morning after pill will make abortions less common because fewer fertilizations will occur. I thought you meant use of the morning after pill would stop. My bad :)
