So what would happen with the old spirit ??? The chapter implies that since Heart and spirit must be removed, either the old Heart or the old spirit had a contaminating influence on the other. Traditionally the flesh and the devil corrupts the spirit, but how would the spirit learn the lessons given by god if it was just replaced with another?

I would not dignify this question which does NOT RESPECT MY FATHER. This is my response and not an answer.

I find that hard to believe as he is even more a-religious than I am. I on the other hand accept that religion has a psychologically important function to some, but will never embrace it.
