Thank you for this. They blocked me, too, don't even know the reason, someone must have downvoted a meme comment of mine. Well, we are on social media which reflect nothing else but society. The sad facts there of are just too well known. Logic and evidence are not appraised goods neither here nor there.

I didn't know you could lose meme meme comments through downvotes; I thought someone had to flag you. That's what happened to me.
reply
6 ups, 1 reply
It could be due to flagging. I'm not sure, tbh. I just know someone has to seriously have it in for you to get you down to that level.
reply
6 ups, 1 reply
Maybe. I think I only had to be flagged once though before I had lost meme comments.

I do not count myself as a political conservative as in Republican. I am fiscally and morally conservative but socially liberal. If that doesn't make sense I could explain more.
I'm always willing and hopefully able, to give an answer for my reasoning.

I think people should be able to live however they want to live even if I personally believe their lifestyle choices are repugnant and detrimental.
I'm libertarian (with a small 'l' because their is a difference) and believe in the "non-aggression" principle. We can't deprive anyone else of their life or liberty and we shouldn't try to use force of government to do it either and that includes coercing people into accommodating our lifestyles.
reply

I would agree for the most part. I'm kind of iffy on the accommodation part. I don't believe businesses should be forced to do business with someone if they don't want to, but I would say there should be some exceptions, such as when it comes to things like medicine. I highly value individual liberty and freedom, but I have to ask where we draw the line. For example, if businesses can deny services to a group of people, what if every business in that town (hypothetically) were to do the same? Can gas stations refuse to sell gas to people which they need to get to work? Should an employer be allowed to refuse to hire someone based on their religious beliefs or skin color? These are all issues that need to be taken into consideration regarding the broader umbrella of personal freedom and liberty. Very good answer, though :)

You ask the government to step in they will make whatever is worse. Governments don't have responsibilities, people do. The highway to hell is paved with good intentions, especially by politicians! If they solved all (or any for that matter) the problems they'd be out of a job, their first and foremost job is to stay in power, representing you is a distant 2nd. People need to mind their own business and better themselves, and you can't legislate that! Private business can and should have a right to do serve, hire and fire who they please, but remember, there's also consequences they can/will suffer from doing so! Word of mouth is very powerful tool. :)

There is a distinct difference between intent and outcome. Similarly, there's a big difference between what people WANT and what they NEED. I really wish we could use math to sort these things out, but even data is subject to spin these days.

Picked up a load at Tropicana in Bradenton (near Sarasota). 44,700lbs, damnit! Nearest truck stop was way up in Tampa, so I go there. Hard to maneuver around in, but I got it legal (after my tandems refused to budge for a while). I went inside the second time to get my scale ticket, and by now I was in a bad mood. I pretended to be looking at merchandise. When the cashier called me up, I pretended I didn't hear her. I heard her and the other customer chuckle at this, which annoyed me. So when I went up to the counter I said "a lack of acknowledgement doesn't mean I didn't hear you." That was the motivation for my GC meme :O I do tend to shut down when I get upset, and just block people out. It's a bad habit but hard to break. So that's the explanation for that :3

Very true! :) I would disagree with the hire/fire part, though. Having a job is how people financially support themselves. Turning away a customer because you don't like them is one thing, but a business shouldn't be allowed to say "I won't hire you because you're black/Jewish/atheist/Christian/Hispanic"

AC/DCelestia XDDD

When a business owner hires someone they both enter into a contractual agreement with obligations and are doing business with each other. The employee is selling the product of his skills and labor to the employer. That is why I believe a business owner should not have to business with any potential employee for any reason.
I say let all the racist, segregationist, any-kind-of-phobes move to the same town or state so that all the normal people can avoid them! In a free market, if people don't do business with certain groups for whatever reason, society will mark that business and the normal people will not spend money there. That type of business won't last. I believe it is different for creative professionals (artists) because what they create is protected free speech/expression.
When it comes to medicine, doctors have to take the Hippocratic Oath (the main principle is to do no harm) and I'm not sure about this but I think people willing to do that wouldn't turn people away for trivial reasons.
Also it is an objective fact (many people disagree with) that heath care is not a right but a commodity. What doctors do is the product of their skill and labor no one has a right to the product of anyone else's labor.

But would you say that self-sufficiency is a right? If so, denying someone a means thereof without good reason could potentially be seen as a violation of their rights. Denying someone a job because they aren't qualified or they aren't the right person for the job is one thing, but I don't think it should be legal to deny someone a job because of something like their skin color, sexual orientation or religion (except in certain circumstances, for example a church shouldn't be forced to hire a Hindu to lead worship, etc)

I looked up your username. appropriate for those that have taken the label conservative when they're really bat$*** crazy trolls. Most are just kids that aren't old enough to shave, much less drive, that are parroting their parents comments without understanding the reasons. They have no skills in the art of debate, and believe if you ask a question, you are challenging that parent's opinions. they are not acting immature. they ARE immature

I agree with a lot of what you are saying. Except for your use of the word "most" which leads to the fallacy of 'hasty generalization' or even 'guilt by association.' The better word to use is many or 'a lot of.' You could also add the phrase, "that I have encountered." That makes it more subjective to your personal experience and therefore believable. The way you said it sounds like you are stating it as objective fact and reality or like you are just parroting what liberals and leftists say who are also not skilled in debate or logic. I have encountered many on all sides of the political spectrum who at least sound/appear to be like what you described.
I use james3v6 as my username in several places on the interwebs to remind me that even though I may be anonymous to you and everybody else, I'm still accountable to someone outside of myself. It helps me to keep from being mean, crass, and vulgar. When I troll people I prefer to use logic and reason to show the foolishness of their worldview and arguments rather than curse or call them names.

I can't argue on any of your points. I got lazy and used the sweeping "most" instead of adding that part about I have encountered. I'm kinda human, and make mistakes. I blew what I was trying to say. I was not calling you Bat**** crazy. I've found that A true conservative is easier to deal with than those that have hijacked the label. the hijackers, in my experience, just want to look for a fight and hate not being able to debate due to either a lack of skill or facts. Take the recent election. I truly tried to find out why some memers here supported Donald Trump. I'd ask why and be attacked for making fun of them. It's only looking at the election that I can now understand. Mind you, the attacks came after I stated that I would not support HIllary, and gave good reasons why I wouldn't. I even cut my ties with the Democratic Party because I felt so strong about it. Here was the chance to sell somebody that wasn't blinded by party allegiance on their candidate and repeatedly they blew it. One even threatened bodily harm. An empty threat, but not a first in 20+ years on the internet.

I appreciate you being mature in your reply. We may debate at another time.

:) It just seems that the young right-wingers on the flip seem not to have any kind of comprehension of history. I'm beginning to wonder if they're teaching World War II anymore in school. And instead of debating with reason and logic, the prime idea seems to be to have revenge against 'liberals', even though I've found none of them who can explain liberalism. And some of it is geographic. Some areas of the country have different values and just think differently for some reason. It sounds nice to say we could all hold hands and sing kumbaya together but frankly I don't feel a lot of cross-partisan kinship with people who adopt anti-democratic ideals and take great pride in them, to the point of trolling those who just want to have fun. :P

But enough. I'm depressing myself. ;)

What is your age? (roughly) I get along with SpursFan when it's all funny stuff. I've found quite a few conservative users who are willing to listen, particularly when they lean libertarian, but many of those who lean religious tend to stop at a certain point and start flinging feces. Right now I'm just happy to have found someone sane to discuss the whole political mess with. :)

I meant you in terms of political discussion. I basically like SpursFan, but I avoid his political memes. I've learned not to f#ck with Texans with politics. It's too ingrained with them. ;)
