ITS TRUE. ALL OF IT. PEOPLE WHO WEREN'T THERE HEARD THE STORY AND DIDN'T BELIEVE IT THEN AS TIME WENT ON THEY SIMPLY CHANGED THE STORY INTO | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
I personally do not believe the timeframes for everything as science currently claims them to be. Things like how long humans have been on earth, where they were, how primitive they were - and most importantly EVOLUTION. That theory was written by a guy on a mission for the Crown who had to make it a scientific theory that Queen Victoria was the ruler of the most evolved and refined beings on the planet. Darwin was knighted for it.......

Maybe because the various books of the Bible are written in different styles, some literal accounts, some allegorical, heck, some are even songs, interpreting them all the same way would be so obtuse, you'd damage your brain

That's true, but it doesn't get around the basic issue. Whether a writing is in a different style doesn't affect whether or not its claims are trustworthy.

Also, most of chapters 1-11 of Genesis (perhaps apart from the creation account) is written in historical narrative style, even including detailed genealogies of actual people.

And as MamaTriedRob pointed out, Jesus Christ based his teaching on the accounts of the creation and flood. He treated them as true.

But that just goes back to what I was trying to say about your meme. If you understand the creation story was allegorical, and Adam and Eve were archetypes, that doesn't rule out someone's belief in the rest of the OT, plus most of genesis's target audience was illeterate goat herders, and written to be understood by them, but that doesn't preclude it meaning man was created thru the process of evolution from "the dust of the earth", and that Adam and Eve were just representative of the first "true people" as opposed to the other ones around at the time who would later shun cain.

It sounds like you didn't bother to read or understand my comment.

No matter what kind of literary style the opening chapters of Genesis were written in, that in and of itself would not determine whether or not Adam and Eve were real people (you can write allegories or poetry about real people, just as you can about mythological people). So, regardless of the literary style of the opening chapters of Genesis, the burden of proof would still remain to show why they shouldn't be viewed as real people.

And you seem to have ignored the second and third points of my comment.

The genealogies of the Bible (linking Adam to other historical figures such as Abraham, Moses, David, etc) preclude any coherent view of Adam and Eve as merely archetypes. Genealogies tracing the descent of real people from mythological figures would serve no purpose.

The teachings of Jesus Christ, in which he treated Adam and Eve as a real married man and woman, as a basis for his teaching on marriage, also make that view incoherent.

Note: since Genesis is a written document, by definition it can't be for an illiterate target audience. I have no idea why you wrote that.

Are you kidding me?
claimed geneology from mythical figures is the basis of almost every monarchy in history!
And maybe you should do some more research, Genesis was written by lierate Priestly class, but the audience it was written for was illiterate.
Anyhow, this is getting too deep and unfun for a meme site. I leave you with the last word sir.

' The sun is shining" can mean the sun is literally shining or it could mean an angel's halo. The same flood is also in Hindu. =)
