- That ain't just gonna be slow aaa zombie walking towards you. The attacks are probably gonna be sneaky and targeted so the infected don't just get killed immediately.
- The amount of people that would just give up their Humanity because they think they have no chance anyway or "oh lol I wanna be quirky furry" is way too huge for comfort.
- Probably some pacifist are gonna try to defend the damn parasites 💀. Although they wouldn't be wrong that they are sentient like us, peace ain't really possible. (...?)
- Idiots would try to 1vAll like it's Valorant.
- Praying that the infecteds don't know how to use a weapon 🙏
- Even if we SOMEHOW win some, the damages would be HUGE.

And what I would do you might ask ?
- Stay home
- Cry in a corner

Can you explain the concept?

Take the concept of apocalypse zombie.
Now take the parasite, yk, the one that transform the humans. Make it that it changes they appearance but keep the urge of infecting others.
The human "losses" (kinda) their memories but is still as (maybe more) intelligent than before.
Now because the idea was from a furry, the changes in the human's appearance are anthropomorphic. The changes impact his sense too, they gain the pros and cons of the animal.
And yeah infection is not by bite but by prolonged contact.

And that's pretty much it.
Those aren't humans anymore, like in the zombie apocalypse. And they behavior can be solo or grouped, depends again on the anthro characteristics.
