All patriots are also nationalists. Leftists are the ones whom decided that love of nation and national loyalty are indications of EVIL. My question is when did sane people with common sense begin paying heed to the opinions of blatantly neurotic and increasingly insane nation-hating liberals when it comes to the meaning of . . . patriotism?

True to. What I find bad irony is that a liberal will be a nationalist for any country not the USA. Case in point - Ukraine.

I read a short story a long time ago. The gist of it was that two superpowers(like US and Russia now) were doing a proxy war on purpose in order to keep world peace. The idea was that as long as a never ending war was happening in one place then nobody else would do a war.

Yes, that was also a theory regarding the Korean and Vietnam 'wars'; because neither side actually tried to win through either their on site presence or through their selected proxy puppet. Korea was obviously a proxy war between the United States/NATO and Mainland China/the USSR with the North and South Koreans being the puppets. Vietnam was Mainland China and the United States working through their North and South Vietnamese puppets. Interlaced through both wars was the philosophy of Controlled and Perpetual Proxy War is good for the Main Countries' National Economies. The same things can be argued with Afghanistan and Iraq.
