By that logic, any wealthy person who has ever started a charity or philanthropic organization, has just "given money to themselves"

But it is a tax write off to his own tax shelter.

Al Gore did the same thing when criticized for making one of his mansions he was having fitted for 'green energy' larger in the process and a bigger drain on the grid. He donated 25 million or something to his own Climate Change charity, thus lowering his tax bracket and enlarging its coffers.

Remember, these people do not work as volunteers at their foundations. They get a hefty salary.

Has anyone yet found out who 'fitted' him that day for that tux, or was it grabbed off a emergency rack in the basement? Poor QEII, having to be next to that overgrown prat.

Next to the classified files?
No amount of custom tailoring could hide the girth of Trumps reality.

hahaha, yeah, who knows what Capt Sticky Fingers took home as a souvenir...

Hey, pronounced fatness is a thing with many of us, so no, um, biggie. It's just not a excuse for a billionaire in his former position to dress like his granny dolled him up for the occasion. It's like something out of a casting call for the next Penguin, albeit, a low budget one,,,

That seems like a partial truth. Al gore has a record of activism and philanthropy, made a movie called inconvenient truth. That’s a lot more than anyone I know. Doesn’t seem right to lambast him for outfitting one of his houses to be green.

Making a tax deductable donation to his own tax shelter foundation that he owns and employs him?
Outfitting ONE of his houses to be green by expanding it a making it a bigger drain on fossil fuels?
Flying around his own private jet to promote his film and numerous speaking engagements, the proceeds of which go where?
Did some unknown something which has done what?
The biggest share holder in the world's largest carbon emission trading market?
Has made MILLIONS off of Climate (Pocket) Change?

Then again, tbf, he's doing just as much as the rest of the 'believers' are for Global Warming, and that is absoulutely nothing more than social media posts waiting for, um, something to do something for them. Global Climate Change is the worst enviromental movement ever - not just because the facts don't back it - but because it's one that's about passing the proverbial [wait for it] hot potato and doing nothing oneself, other than make a cute post on FB on Earth Day.

Like my ol' Grandpappy Modda used to say, "Wanna do something? Grab a shovel and dig." And I ain't seen Gore crack a sweat.

Huh, I never had you pegged as a climate change denier. Have you seen the Movie? I’m always confused by people who say how would you know, you are not a scientist? When they are not scientists either. Then they refuse to believe actual scientists. I don’t really care what scientists, the government or little girls or grown man children say, I personally believe we should preserve nature for the benefit of the future. It’s not rocket science it’s common sense. That being said, you are entitled to your opinions. That expression Grampy Modda told you is very Ted Nugent.

And that's the thing of it, if some Swedish kid getting other rich school girls to cut school or AL Gore's flick could do anything - ANYTHING - to positively impact nature or at least get people to do SOMETHING, hey, sign me up, I'll buy me Al's DVD.

But instead it has become THE enviromental movement which translates into NO enviromental movement because we're twiddling our thumbs waiting on AOC to convince Uncle Sam to once again save the world.

In addition to it being bs - scientists don' have to fudge data if the phenomenom was true - THAT'S what miffs me the most about it. Inaction. Heck, I'd be eating nothing but beans and getting others to do the same if that would make a measurable difference and scare everyone into taking action if they would. But they ain't. It, like the rest of this virtual culture we currently inhabit, is an item for social media and nothing more.

Ted Nugent is an atention seeking pedo draft dodging wimp who hunts animals he hand feeds in his petting zoo to prove his has-been self has something akin to a viable nutsack. Admittedly, he did seem to have something to say back in the day.
Anyways, despite him raising potentially invasive exotics, hunters in general are the best enviromentalists in terms of investment, as they have a vested interest beyond posts on FB.

Good grief, dawn, I was just going to bed now. Ugh, they're so vile.

Remember, Duck Stamps. Buy them from the USPS. Best enviromental 'charity'/investement there is. 98% of the purchase price ($25 ea) goes directly to buying and protecting wetlands.

Catch ya in few hrs...

Oh, there is no denying of climate change, that's the beauty of it, and kudos to whomever came up with that one as the Earth's climate has been changing since it was a ball of hot gas 5 billion years ago.

Thing is, not sure what the traffic jams were like during the Medievel, Roman, and Minoan Warming Periods, but temps were warmer than now. And even those weren't as warm as the previous interglacial period 130,000 yrs ago in which Greenland was 70% ice free (it's STILL 70% covered now), a significant portion of Florida was 10-15' underwater, and the cute polar bears almost became extinct.

Meanwhile, Cuba, smack dab between where the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico meet, has to date, been untouched by Global Warming. I mean, according to Al Gore, the Artic should have been ice free since 2014 and I should be growing mangoes in my backyard, and yet tropical Cuba has been immune to the forces which have ravaged all land surrounding it. What is it, the permanent eye of this fearsome Global Warming hurricane? East, west, south, north - coral dying, sea life disappearing - and Cuba..... untouched. Frig, it's waters are practically pristine - you have to go way out on the Pacific to find islands just as unaffected by the sun screaming direcly overhead them.

But no worries, folks, that record breaking winter blast 2 weeks ago and the record breaking warmth this week are proof positive that Climate Change is real!

And it is.

So should air pollution go unchecked? I’m not going to co-sign most of this statement, but you do make me want to check out Cuba. I don’t want my brain microwaved though.
0 ups, 1y
It's going unchecked now BECAUSE of this money sucking fad. Carbon offsets - BUY and SELL pollution like a commodity? THAT'S the solution? It is Al Gore's.
3 ups, 1y
Wealthy people start “charitable organizations” all the time. It’s a tax shelter at best and basically a money laundering scheme at worst.

Trump is on one end. Gates on the other.

Guess which is which.
